Insoluble in water but dispersible in water. Insoluble in ethanol, methanol, soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons. It is made of polymethylsiloxane and fumed silica mixed and rolled into silicone grease, and then emulsified with polyvinyl alcohol, Tween 80 and deionized water.
